Porous pipe / soaker hose

A soaker hose is the most efficient way of watering precious plants. Sometimes plants need a bit of extra T.L.C. to get established, and there is no better way than bringing water straight to their roots. A soaker hose is basically a flexible porous pipe which leaks very small amounts of water along its length. It can be connected to a normal hose and snake its way around the base of plants. Particularly suited for the establishment of hedges such as bay, or for areas with a 'rain shadow' such as near tall buildings or under mature trees. For best results it should be lightly covered in bark mulch. Remember that plants can also get too much water, and it should be used only when necessary.
