John Innes composts are the best quality potting composts. Made from soil, grit and other quality compost materials, this potting compost is ideal for re-potting of  container plants, trees and shrubs and also estabished vegetables. The number refers to the nutrient content, and Number 2 is a general mix suitable for most purposes. John Innes composts are heavier than non-loam-based composts, dry out less and retain nutrients longer than ordinary peat-based composts. Not suitable for lime-hating (ericaceous) plants. 20 litres per bag.

Peat free and organic compost - this is the best one available! New Horizon peat-free multi-purpose compost. Suitable for seed sowing, cuttings, pricking out, potting into tubs, planters, containers and hanging baskets. With added nutrients.  Made from peat-free products which contain recycled materials. This compost is better for the environment than traditional peat-based products, and work well in the garden or potting shed. Horticultural trials have shown that the new breed of composts match the performance of traditional peat-based products. Made in the UK from recycled resources. We call this stuff 'rocket fuel - it makes an all-purpose, easy-to-use fertiliser for trees, shrubs and flower beds. Scattered thinly over beds once or twice a year, it keeps plants and soil healthy. It's also perfect for top-dressing pots and keeping plants in containers in tip-top condition - simply work a small handful into the top inch of the compost. It's a well-balanced fertiliser which encourages leaf and flower development, and is particularly beneficial at the time of planting. It does have a mild odour which lingers for a couple of hours after applying. Brand may vary from the one illustrated. 10kg tub.
