Golden Hornet crab apple

Crab apples are small-to medium-sized trees which have white flowers in spring and colourful, small and very sour fruit in late summer and autumn. The fruit can be used to make tasty jellies, or left on the trees where it is ornamental and can persist into the winter. Generally tolerant of most soil conditions, plant in sun or light shade. 'Golden Hornet' is one of the most popular varieties, with masses of white flowers in spring (good for attracting pollinators into an orchard) and heavy crops of bright yellow fruit.
