Sweet chestnut, Spanish chestnut

A large deciduous tree native to southern Europe, grown for its edible nuts (chestnuts) as well as its attractive and useful timber. It produces edible and tasty nuts in warmer summers - best roasted or with brussel sprouts. With an ultimate height of between 20-35m, this is a tree for large gardens, estates or parklands. Prefers slightly acid and well-drained but moist soil. It has long, serrated leaves and is a very attractive tree. 10L container.
