Modern Villa Garden

We designed and planted the garden around this stunning modern house near Kinsealy. Situated on over an acre, we're showig here only the area near the front entrance. Because of the location and planning regulations, we were involved from the earliest stages in order to secure planning permission - in this case going right through the process to An Bord Pleanala, the highest planning authority. The ground has been levelled - no planting has yet taken place.

The path to the front door is edged with 'Hidcote' lavender and the bed behind planted with Miscanthus 'Ferner Osten', Agapanthus, Crocosmia 'Emily McKenzie', Fenneland Paulownia tomentosa.

Looking through a raised bed of Fargesia 'Bimbo': a fluffy, resilient and airy bamboo species ideally suited where a medium height is required - perfect for the informal, lush atmosphere we wished to create.

A small walled garden off the kitchen is planted with pots of Tulbaghia violacea - a plant with lovely pale purple flowers which performs better in pots than in the ground.
