| Galium odoratum
Woodruff, Ladies bedstraw
A wonderful, native groundcover plant. It's small when you plant it, but if you need a plant to spread quickly and prosper, this is it. It is low, has masses of tiny white flowers from spring to midsummer, and does best in shade or dappled sun. It prefers moist woodland soil, with plenty of organic matter, but is forgiving and will quickly grow to be an attractive 'green carpet' which requires little care. The foliage of this plant, when dried, smells of freshly-mown hay and is used, most often in Germany, as a flavouring for wines and beers. Please note: the foliage browns and dies back in autumn and reappears early in the spring, meaning that plants bought in the winter may appear like empty pots! 1L container.
