Plants in 'Wet feet' scheme
| Astilbe chinensis 'Superba'
'Superba' Astilbe, False goat's rue
An excellent plant for light shade or woodland gardens, and in areas such as pond edges or stream banks. Masses of fluffy pale pink flowers in early spring and late summer. This medium-sized perennial prefers moist, organically rich soils. Soils should not be allowed to dry out. If regularly watered, foliage will usually remain attractive throughout the growing season. A summer mulch helps retain soil moisture. Removing faded flower stalks will not prolong bloom, but may improve plant appearance, particularly if a ground cover look is desired. Alternatively, leave the flower stalks in place after blooming because of the continuing ornamental interest of the dried seed heads. 4 L container.

It has glossy, heart-shaped green leaves, and the yellow flowers are similar in colour to those of the buttercup. Perfect for the edge of a natural pond. 2 L container.
