Croquet set

Croquet set
There's no better game for a summer afternoon than croquet. With an outwardly civilised, even genteel, appearance, it is in fact a wickedly competitive and entertaining game. You don't need a perfect lawn for this - it's better played with natural obstacles such as flower beds, slopes and patches of long grass. Neither do you need to be fit, strong or energetic! This set comes in a quality canvas carry bag (click on the image on the right to see the full set). It contains 4 x 96 cms mallets, 9 lightweight hoops, 4 stakes, 4 coloured wooden balls and complete instructions. Made from birch wood with full chain of custody from sustainable sources. Standard delivery terms.

Irish hardwood garden bench

Irish hardwood garden bench
We are very proud of this garden bench. Like our table, it is grown, designed and made in Ireland. It is hand made to an exceptionally high quality by Rhatigan and Hick of Wicklow from seasoned Irish hardwood and marine-grade stainless steel fittings. It has been designed for us by architect and furniture designer Laura Mays, whose work is represented in museums, embassies and collections around the world. Sturdy, simple and clean in its design, it will last outside for many years and increase in character as it matures. It is made from Irish hardwoods such as oak, elm or chestnut and each item is made to order. The timber is sourced from the Lisnavagh Estate in County Carlow and kiln-dried in Kilruddery in Bray. The item shown is made from chestnut (Castanea sativa) which is unoiled. A coating of Danish oil or teak oil may be applied if desired. We do not recommend varnish or any other treatment. As each item is made to order, it may take up to 28 days between ordering and receiving your bench. You can also specify which timber you would prefer - please feel free to contact us to discuss. Planter: 'Leaf Motif' window box (Fibreclay)
|
Planter: 'Leaf Motif' window box (Fibreclay)
This is a classic windowbox particularly suited to period houses, where its colour and design make it a particularly fine choice. Made from Fibreclay, a lightweight and long-lasting material using a combination of clay and natural minerals which uses only 10% of the energy used in the production or terracotta. Window boxes can be planted with a number of plants, depending on their location. For sunny areas consider English lavender (dwarf varieties such as 'Munstead' or 'Hidcote' are best) and for shadier areas plants such as box and or ivy are excellent. They are also ideal for herbs and annual plants. We recommend that you use a good quality potting compost such as John Innes No 2 which can sustain plants for longer periods and do not dry out as fast as peat-based mixes. Three sizes are available: Small 50 cms long x 16 wide x 18 high; Medium 60 cms high x 23 wide x 23 high; Large 70 cms long x 29 wide x 28 high.
